The Stark Campus Library has a 3D printer and scanner for creating 3 dimensional objects. The MakerBot Replicator 3D Printer can print objects up to a maximum size of 10 inches X 8 inches X 6 inches. 3D printing is a time-consuming process and it can take hours to create a 3D object, depending on the size and complexity of the object. The MakerBot Digitizer (scanner) uses laser technology to scan objects with a maximum size of 8 inches diameter X 8 inches high in about 10 minutes. The result is a file that can be used by the printer to printout a 3D object. Please review the policy for using the 3D printer and scanner. If you are interested in using either the printer or scanner (or both) you can start the process by filling out an online request. The Stark Campus Library offers this service to anyone interested in 3D printing or scanning. Priority is given to those projects presented by our campus community that are associated with teaching and learning, with course-related projects given the highest priority. Non-academic projects will be accepted but given a lesser priority. Please keep in mind that the library is offering a service that results in the creation of 3D objects. We do not offer expertise is creating the files needed for printing (other than those created by using the 3D scanner). If you are not familiar with 3D printing or scanning, please view the YouTube videos below created by MakerBot. These short videos provide a basic understanding of the capabilities of these devices.
