The case studies included in this guide are not meant as a test of knowledge. They are based on real cases of plagiarism and enhanced to demonstrate certain aspects of plagiarism. The questions at the end are presented to stimulate deeper thinking and broad discussion. Those reading and talking about the case studies should keep in mind that, while some may have strong opinions about how plagiarism is dealt with in each case, there are no defined right or wrong answers and everyone should be given the opportunity to voice their opinion without judgment. In the classroom setting, students can be divided into small groups (4-6 students, for example) and each group could have a different case. After providing time for the groups to read and discuss the cases within their groups, the instructor can lead a discussion asking each group to comment on their case.
