Me in full gear just finishing a convoy on New years eve. It was supposed to be a 4 hour trip that turned into 15 hours after running into an IED, small arms fire, a car accident (iraqi's) that we had to assist. It was 30 something degrees and freezing and all of our cold weather gear had just been taken away because Marines were being hit by IED's and the clothing was melting to their skin causing more sever injuries so they forbid us from wearing it. What I had on was a flight suit that was about as thick as sheet and that was it riding in the back of a 7 ton truck. Eventually mom sent me some long johns that I could wear but that was a miserable day especially since my gear was so heavy that it made me sweat so once you stop moving you were twice as cold Me in full gear just finishing a convoy on New years eve. Eventually mom sent me some long johns that I could wear but that was a miserable day especially since my gear was so heavy that it made me sweat so once you stop moving you were twice as cold!
I was standing in front of the Detention Facility in Fallujah Iraq after stripping most of my gear and my rifle. Carrying only a pistol showing how sweaty I was from my gear. Loading the plane home from iraq (a connecting flight I think in Germany) Loading the plane home from iraq (a connecting flight I think in Germany)
This picture on the bridge looks nice but we actually had come upon an IED and were blocking the road until EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) teams were able to destroy it. A huge sandstorm in Baghdad. Those are the worst, sand is everywhere, ears, nose, eye lids, mouths, and somehow when you undress it pours out of your uniform too!
